How to get rid couperosis of and prevent it.
Couperosis , or the more scientific term "telangiectasia", is a violation of the mechanism of vascular tone of superficial blood vessels, manifested as a steady expansion of the diameter of the lumen of small vessels of the skin up to 1 mm. Both men and women suffer from couperosis equally. Couperosis can be congenital or acquired.
Acquired couperosis manifests itself either as a symptom of the disease (rosacea, scleroderma, lupus erythematosus, chronic venous insufficiency, and others), or as a result (side effect) of certain skin diseases or bad habits (alcohol consumption), or it can occur with excessive exposure to too low or too high temperatures on the skin, or is the result of abuse of cosmetic procedures (especially traumatic effects).
Telangiectasias are located mainly in the area of the skin of the face or skin of the legs (it can transform into varicose veins in the legs). On the face, they occupy areas in the area of the wings of the nose, cheeks, and chin. They look like red or lilac streaks and, having reached a large number, become mesh-like and noticeable, especially on light skin, giving the skin color a reddish-pink or lilac tint.
In addition to a cosmetic defect, couperosis is also unpleasant in that constantly dilated vessels tend to burst, thus disrupting the blood supply to the skin and provoking a rapid fading of the skin and its diseases.
Methods for removing telangiectasia.
All methods pursue the goal of cutting off blood vessels from the general circulatory system and their disappearance.
Electrocoagulation is a procedure for cauterization of dilated or burst vessels using hair electrodes (it has side effects - scars or pigmentation).
Laser coagulation - well suited for deeply located vessels. The laser is selected individually depending on the clinical picture (it has side effects when the type of laser is incorrectly selected - scars, burns, hematomas, new vascular growths). The most modern types of lasers are CO2, argon, neodymium and Dye lasers. The best effect is given by lasers with yellow or green radiation. This spectrum is absorbed by blood vessels, and not by nearby tissues.
Sclerotherapy - can have severe side effects in the form of sclerosant embolism of the vessels of the lungs, heart, and brain.
Cryodestruction (cryotherapy) - liquid nitrogen is used to destroy blood vessels using low temperatures (-80C). The advantages of this method are the absence of anesthesia, minimal skin trauma.
Prevention of couperosis.
The skin prone to couperosis requires particularly gentle care. You should abandon traumatic cosmetic manipulations (peeling, use of scrubs). Make sure that cosmetics do not contain bleaching ingredients. It is necessary to apply photoprotective creams to prevent exposure of the skin to ultraviolet radiation.
Recommended:
- protect face from sunburn and frost
- avoid exposure to strong winds
- prevent overdrying of the skin
- men are not recommended to use an electric razor, but should replace it with a manual machine
- do not use steam baths and inhalations for the face (saunas, baths, solarium for the skin of the face are also harmful)
- do not abuse alcoholic beverages (have a vasodilating effect)
- eat food and drinks warm, not hot
- when playing sports, you should have cool water or ice with you to cool your face
- wash your face not with hot water, but with water at room temperature
- regularly wipe your face with ice cubes (hardens blood vessels and trains their tone)
